Tour the famous Parq Vancouver hotel and it’s easy to see why it’s considered an urban escape. But did you know it’s also sustainable?

While the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver casino resort is known for being a premiere entertainment destination with its 72,000-square-foot casino, top-quality dining and striking exterior facade, the hotel was also built on a ‘foundation of sustainability’.

Designed by ACDF Architecture, Parq incorporates an array of eco-friendly ventures throughout the resort, and was built to achieve LEED Gold certification. The space uses many materials that are local to Vancouver and British Columbia, including Douglas Fir trees and North Shore rock.Parq Vancouver terraceParq Vancouver

Indoors and out, you’ll find an artistic take on several green initiatives that are carefully aligned with the City of Vancouver’s own Greenest City 2020 Action Plan, which address sustainable design, access to nature, green mobility and more.

One of Parq Vancouver’s signature sustainable features is its 30,000-square-foot outdoor, sixth level park. The lush retreat features more than 200 native pines and 15,000 local plants, which, combined with the sprawling scenic mountain views, provides much-needed tranquility from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver’s busy streets. Overall, the garden represents an ‘innovative use of green spaces, seamlessly introducing nature into a refined urban environment’.

On the second and third floors, the casino receives plenty of natural light, while the sparkling, oversized windows connect the interior with the activity outside, enticing visitors. The outdoor spaces of the building also increase pedestrian flow and provide a welcoming link to the existing bicycle path network.Parq Vancouver bikingParq Vancouver
