Composting Tips for your Home Compost Bin
Have you ever wished you could make your garden healthier? Composting can help this. The broken down feces, grass, leaves and other rot works with earth worms to create a fertile soil that is nutrient rich. Earthworm Compost is a natural way to recycle household waste and help save the environment. Using compost can even improve sandy soil and clay-like soil in a garden. Here are some composting tips and ways to create a home compost bin. Of course, if you're not a hands-on person, find composters for sale online and in stores near you.

Composting Tips
So you want to start a home compost bin? There are a number of composting tips you can use once you get started:
1- Use a three-sided pen nailed together with mesh and pallets
2- Bigger is better, but keep it under three feet wide by three feet high
3- Add kitchen scraps to your compost bin
4- Grass clippings are good
5- Balance the green with the brown: newspapers and straw
6- Worms love coffee grounds
7- Keep the compost pile in the sun so everything composes faster
8- Don't let your home compost bin dry out
9- Balance again: Make sure it doesn't get too moist (or it will start to smell)
Building a Home Compost Bin
When you build your home compost bin, it's best to make one that you can easily move between the indoors and the outdoors easily. That way, in the spring and summer, when it's warm, your compost bin can be outdoors and when it's cold in the winter, you can move it inside.
To build your home earthworm compost bin, you will need:
-A plastic bin with a lid to keep critters out
-Drill
-Redworms
-Dirt
Take the bin and drill holes into the sides so that air can go through it. Add in some things to start your compost pile off, such as newspapers and dry leaves, until it's about a quarter of the way filled. Then, add in some dirt and the redworms. Now, you can add to your compost regularly. Throw in egg shells, fruits, vegetables, other food scraps, paper towels and newspapers into your compost bin. Do not add glass, plastic or tin foil, this is bad for the worms and will not break down easily.
Why Earthworm compost?
For an effective earthworm compost, you will use redworms. These are naturally found in compost heaps and manure. (Dew-worms are not likely to survive, so it's best to not use them.) You can find the worms yourself or buy them. They will devour the items in the compost bin and give you rich, fertile soil in return.
To make the best use of your earthworm compost, you need the right number of worms. So, you'll need about two pounds of worms per pound of waste per day.
